ClearScan — Privacy Policy

ClearScan ("the App", "we", "our", "us") is a document scanning and PDF utility developed by VertexLab Solutions LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

1. Overview

ClearScan does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All scanning, OCR, editing, signing, password protection, compression, merging, splitting, and photo-to-PDF conversion happen entirely on your device. No data is sent to our servers or to any third party.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your iPhone or iPad:

Scanned documents and PDF files you create or import
Document metadata (names, folders, creation dates, page counts)
Saved signatures you draw within the App
App preferences (default page size, default filter, dark mode)

This data is stored in your device's app container and is never transmitted off-device unless you explicitly use iOS share-sheet actions (for example, sending a PDF via Mail, Messages, or AirDrop).

3. Camera and Photo Library Access

ClearScan requests the following iOS permissions strictly to provide app functionality:

Camera — used only when you tap "Scan" to capture a document. Frames are processed on-device and never uploaded.
Photo Library — used only when you tap "Import" to convert an existing photo to PDF. Photos are read on-device only.

You can revoke either permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.

4. OCR (Optical Character Recognition)

Text recognition is performed entirely on-device using Apple's Vision framework. Scanned content is never sent to our servers or to any cloud OCR service.

5. No Account, No Sign-in

ClearScan does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information. There is no login, no email collection, and no user profile.

6. No Analytics or Tracking

The App does not include any analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, crash-reporting services, or third-party trackers. We cannot see how you use the App.

7. Network Activity

ClearScan does not make any network requests during normal use. The App operates fully offline.

8. Children's Privacy

ClearScan does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Because we collect no data at all, the App is safe for use by people of any age.

9. Data Security

Because all data stays on your device, its security is governed by iOS itself. We recommend enabling a device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID to protect your documents. PDFs you password-protect using ClearScan's "Protect" tool are encrypted using standard PDF encryption.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Your documents remain on your device until you delete them from within the App, or until you uninstall the App (which removes all associated data).

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
