Terms of Use
DOT Compliance Desk by VertexLab Solutions LLC · Last updated September 30, 2026
These terms are the agreement between VertexLab Solutions LLC ("we", "us") and the motor carrier that uses DOT Compliance Desk ("you"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you are agreeing for a company, you confirm that you are allowed to.
The service is for businesses in the United States. It is not for personal or household use.
1. What the service is
DOT Compliance Desk is a tool you use to keep your driver, vehicle and company records in order. You add your documents, say what each one is and whose it is, and enter the date on it. The app counts from the dates you enter and shows what is due, missing or expiring.
You keep these records yourself. Nobody at DOT Compliance Desk reads, checks or verifies your documents, prepares a filing for you, or sends anything to a government agency for you.
DOT Compliance Desk provides compliance-management tools and administrative assistance based on information you supply and on publicly available regulatory information. We are not a law firm, an accounting firm, a government agency, or a certified medical examiner, and we do not provide legal, tax, or medical advice. Requirements change and vary by jurisdiction and type of operation. You remain solely responsible for your company's regulatory compliance.
2. What we cover and what we do not
- We track the federal requirements listed under "What we cover" in the app, for interstate carriers of property that do not haul hazardous materials.
- We do not track your state's own rules, hazardous materials, passenger carriage, fuel tax, vehicle registration, or hours of service. The app lists what is not covered.
- Reminders cover only the requirements we track and the records you have added. A requirement we do not track, or a record you have not added, produces no reminder.
- Dates are counted from what you enter. If a date is entered wrongly, what the app shows will be wrong.
- What the app shows is a count from your own records. It is not an audit and not an opinion on your company's overall compliance.
- We cannot tell you how an audit, an inspection or a government decision will turn out, and nothing we say is a promise that it will go a particular way.
3. What stays your responsibility
- The decisions. You decide whether a driver is qualified, whether a vehicle may operate, and what to do about anything we show you.
- The information. What the app shows depends on the documents you add and the dates you enter. You are responsible for them being accurate, complete and added in time.
- The filings. You file your own registrations and updates with the agency, and you add the confirmation to your records if you want the app to count from it.
- Your own copies. The law requires you, the carrier, to keep many of these records. Holding them with us does not move that duty to us. Keep your own copies, and download your records before you close your account.
- Your account. You are responsible for who has your phone and your sign-in, and for what is done with them.
4. Documents
The app stores the documents you add and files them under the driver, truck or company you choose. Nobody reads them. We do not verify that a document is authentic, that it was issued by an authorized party, or that the date you entered is the date on it. The app checks on your phone whether a photo can be read at all, and refuses a date that cannot be right, such as one later than the law allows a certificate to run. It does not check anything else.
5. What we do not offer
- We do not prepare or submit filings, and we do not challenge records (DataQs requests) for you.
- We do not review documents, and we do not answer questions about what the rules require of your company. For those, ask an attorney, an accountant or a compliance professional.
- We do not text your drivers.
- Help with the app itself is by email, at the address at the end of these terms.
- If we begin to offer any of these, these terms will be changed first and the new version posted here.
6. Your drivers' information
- You confirm that you are entitled to give us the information and documents you add about your drivers, and that you have told your drivers you use a service to keep these records.
- We do not obtain driving records, background reports or drug and alcohol test results ourselves. If you add one, you confirm you obtained it lawfully. Any duty owed to the driver about it, including notices required before acting on a report, stays with you.
- A driver may ask us to see or correct records about them. We may tell you when that happens, and we may act on a correction that is plainly right.
- How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
7. Text messages
- By giving us your mobile number you agree to receive sign-in codes from us by text. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to end all texts from us, including sign-in codes, or HELP for help.
- Reminders about deadlines come from the app on your phone, not by text.
- Nobody reads a reply to one of our texts. Add documents in the app.
8. Plans and payment
- No plan is on sale at present, and the app can be used without one. The rest of this section applies if and when plans are offered.
- Your first truck is free, for as long as you like. A plan is needed from the second truck.
- Plans are sold through Apple and are billed to your Apple account. The price is the one Apple shows you before you buy.
- Each plan starts with 30 days free if Apple offers you the trial. Nothing is charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel during it in your Apple account settings. After the trial, or if you are not offered one, the plan runs for a month and renews each month at the price shown until you cancel. Cancel at least a day before the renewal date in your Apple account settings. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a plan.
- Apple takes the payment and handles refunds under its own policies. We cannot issue a refund for a purchase made through Apple.
- Each plan covers up to a number of trucks. If you go over, we keep tracking every truck and ask you to move up a plan.
- If a payment fails, nothing changes for 16 days while Apple retries. If a plan ends, your records, your dates and the app's own reminders stay.
9. Closing your account
You can delete your account in the app. You are signed out at once, and your records are deleted 30 days later unless you sign in and keep the account. Records under a subpoena, an open claim or an audit are kept until that ends. What is deleted and what is kept is set out in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that is used to break the law, to add forged documents, to harm the service or other customers, or in breach of these terms. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you the chance to download your records.
10. Using the service properly
Do not use the service to break the law, add documents you know to be false, try to reach another customer's records, interfere with the service, or copy or reverse engineer the app.
11. Who owns what
Your records are yours. You give us permission to store and use them to provide the service to you. The app, the service and everything in them other than your records belong to us, and you may use them only as these terms allow.
12. No warranty
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR FREE OF ERRORS, THAT EVERY REQUIREMENT THAT APPLIES TO YOU IS TRACKED, OR THAT USING THE SERVICE WILL RESULT IN COMPLIANCE WITH ANY LAW OR IN ANY PARTICULAR OUTCOME OF AN AUDIT, INSPECTION OR FILING.
13. Limit on our liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, FINES, PENALTIES, OUT-OF-SERVICE ORDERS OR LOSS OF OPERATING AUTHORITY, HOWEVER THEY ARISE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT THAT GAVE RISE TO THE CLAIM.
Some states do not allow some of these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Claims made against us because of you
If someone brings a claim against us because of information or documents you added, a date you entered, or your breach of these terms or of the law, you will cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim. This does not apply to the extent the claim was caused by our own negligence or misconduct.
15. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to conform to any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal requirement, consumer protection claims, or claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property. You confirm that you are not located in a country under a United States embargo and are not on a United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of the app must also follow the App Store's own terms.
16. Changes
We may change these terms. The new version will be posted at this address with a new date. If you keep using the service after the change, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using the service and cancel your plan.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Wake County, North Carolina.
18. General
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term, we have not given it up. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service. You may not transfer this agreement without our written consent.
